MORAES, John “Daryl”


Passed away after a lengthy illness on July 20, 2002


He was born in Victoria, BC on April 8, 1936. He was predeceased by his parents, Nora and Jack, and by his brother Dennis. Daryl is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Julie; his children, Laia (Dave), Andrea, John (Maxine) and Keith (Mariah). He is also survived by his grandchildren, Jessica, Steven, Jillian and Derian. Daryl spent most of his working career with MacMillan Bloedel Ltd., involved in Industrial Relations in both the pulp and logging venues. He was an active participant in the beginning stages of E.F.A.P. and S.A.F.E.R. programs, which are now used by other companies and organizations, all to help benefit the “employee.” During his final years with M&B, he spent his time managing logging divisions in Port McNeill, Kelsey Bay and Northwest Bay, all on Vancouver Island. Daryl was also a staunch member of Rotary International, being a “Paul Harris Fellow.”


A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, July 27, 2002 at the Parksville Fellowship Baptist Church, 550 North Pym Road, Parksville, BC with Pastor David Marttunen officiating.
