MCCALL, John Ray

"Ray"

Passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, July 17, 2008 after a lengthy illness.

Predeceased by his parents Nora and Cecil, Ray is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Verna; sister, Anne (Gary); sisters-in-law Sandra, Debra (Don), Lenora (John); nieces and nephews Dale, Lara, Jody, Mike, Darrell, Daniel, Doug, Rory, Kerry and step son Brent (Val).

Ray was born in Nanaimo BC, in 1945 and moved to the Valley where he had a long career at the Plywood Mill until his retirement in 1991.

Ray will be remembered for his generous and kind nature and always making time for friends and family.

One of his many passions in life was fishing with his friend Charlie off the east coast of Vancouver Island. Another was being an active member of the curling club which he belonged to for many years. He was also always ready for a good game of pool with his buddies. Ray enjoyed the sun and fun of Waikiki Beach in Hawaii along with his friends Doug, George and Ed. One of his fondest memories was a special vacation to Mexico with his close and long time friend Denny, who also was Best man at Ray and Verna's wedding.

Ray will be sadly missed but never forgotten by all his family and friends.
