Julia Margaret Butler

January 26, 2005

Butler, Julia Margaret

Born March 1, 1931. Passed away on January 26, 2005 in Nanoose Bay, Aged 73

Born in Rosthern Saskatchewan and raised in Vancouver. She raised her family in Lynn Valley and has lived the last 14 years at Fairwinds in Nanoose Bay on Vancouver Island.

Julie will be missed by her husband of 51 years, Chuck. Sons Greg (Anne), Dean (Joy), Mitch (Holly), and Todd (Sonia), and her sister Helen. Grandchildren; Darci, Joel, Jacquelyn, James, Alex, Chris and Justin. Predeceased by her sister Francis and her brother Ron.

Mom was the consummate crafts person, knitting, sewing, quilting and needlepoint. She always had 3 or 4 projects on the go at the same time. She had an infectious laugh and smile. She loved caring for her flower gardens and enjoyed the odd glass of wine. She raised 4 boys, actually she always said that she raised the first two and dragged the others. Everyone knew the Butler boys by their matching hand knitted sweaters. She had a no nonsense get it done now attitude. Mom’s spirit was stronger than her heart.

Many thanks to the Cardiac Care team at Victoria Jubilee Hospital and the Intensive Care staff at Nanaimo General. In lieu of flowers please make donations, in her name, to the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Mom did not want a memorial service; she would rather have a party. A celebration of her life will be held at Fairwinds in Nanoose Bay Saturday February 12, at 1pm and in North Vancouver at the North Shore Winter Club on Sunday February 13 at 1pm.
