Horne, Kate Hughes
1927-2005- Of Qualicum Bay, B.C. passed away peacefully on December 5, 2005 after
a long battle with lupus
Kate will be loved and always remembered by her husband of 56 years, John and her children Lynne, Barbara and Alistair (Leah) and her beloved grandson Jonathan, as well as dear friend Leah.
Born and raised in Wales, England and Scotland, Kate and her family immigrated to Canada in 1966. She moved with her husband to Qualicum in 1991 when he retired. Kate was a truly talented professional artist and art teacher who also enjoyed sculpture, writing, poetry and gardening. Some of her paintings hang in businesses and homes in the US and across Canada from Ontario to Vancouver Island.
Special thanks to Dr. C. Bigelow and his staff for their attentive care of Kate since moving to BC and the ICU and 3rd floor staff at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital for their compassionate care of Kate in her last days.
