Gary passed away peacefully at Nanaimo Hospital on Vancouver Island on March 15, 2017. Born at St. Pauls Hospital in Vancouver on April 11, 1929, he was the oldest child of Edith May Robinson (nee Garland) and Kenneth Howard Robinson. Gary grew up in several
places in BC. When he was 20 he went to Dawson Creek to be a lifeguard. There he met Marilyn Williams daughter of the pool manager. Marilyn and Gary were married in 1952. Gary worked as a transmitter tech and a DJ at CJDC radio station in Dawson Creek and at CFGP in Grande Prairie. Three children came along over the years, two daughters and then a son. Gary became a teacher and then a Principal at various elementary schools in BC. He was Principal of Qualicum Beach Elementary and taught at Little Qualicum Elementary in the years from 1969 to 1977. Marilyn and Gary
returned to Vancouver Island to live in 2014.
Gary is missed and remembered by his wife
of 64 years, Marilyn; his children; Kim Strasky (Rod),
Kelli Robinson and Darcy Robinson and his 3
grandchildren, Nick Strasky (Sarah), Zoe Bassett (Blaine) and Alex Strasky as well as his 2 great-grandchildren,
Kendall and Claire Bassett.
