FANTOV - Kruno

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Kruno Fantov at Nanaimo General Hospital on November 13, 2010. He passed on surrounded by his family. Kruno leaves behind his loving wife of 44 years, Milena; his three children Sandra, Petar and Anita; grandchildren Kaela, D'artagnan, Adam and Malina and countless friends and relatives. Kruno will always be remembered for his big heart and love for his family and friends. Born on a small island on the Dalmatian coast of Croatia on February 17, 1940, he had a great passion for the ocean. After immigrating to Canada in 1966, Kruno quickly became fond of the coast of British Columbia, where he became an avid fisher and wine maker. He lived the last 20 years of his life in Parksville, British Columbia, because it reminded him of his birth place back home, and had stated 'I was born on an island and will die on an island.' He will be sorely missed by all who knew him. Prayers were offered at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 18, 2010 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Croatian Church, 3105 E.1st Avenue, Vancouver, where the Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Friday, November 19, 2010 at 1:30 p.m. Interment, Forest Lawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation would be greatly appreciated. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.bellburnaby.com
