Our best friend, mother, grama and great grama, Laura Cook, daughter of Mackenzie and

Armenella Paterson passed away peacefully at noon Sunday, January 11, 2004 in Parksville, B.C. Born August 30, 1917 on a small farm outside Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Laura is predeceased by her son, Lloyd George Cook in 1995 and her two sisters Verna Stone, 1994 and Merle Mauro, 1972. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband George Otson Cook (married 63 years), daughter Cheryle (Gary) of Parksville, Grandchildren; Jason Salmond, Brandy Salmond (Ryan) of Maple Ridge B.C., Sarah Cook (Chris) of Toronto and Adam Cook (Gee) and daughter-in-law Mary Brownscombe of Victoria, B.C., and the ”light of her eye”, great grandson Brandan Jason Belanger. Her nieces and nephews; Jim Stone (Thea), Marilyne Stone, Bryan Stone, and Judy Mauro (Denise) and their families of Winnipeg. Her two very special friends; Marjorie Woosnam of Vancouver and Roy Martin of San Francisco. Also, many loving relatives from the Cook’s side.

Laura loved life itself and enjoyed every day of her 86 years. For those who knew her she was gift, leaving us all with many loving memories.

The families wish to express their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Trillium Lodge and Nanaimo Hospital (5th floor) for making Mom so comfortable.

There will be a Celebration of Laura’s life

in our garden in Parksville.

Saturday, May 8th, 2004 at noon.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the deaf, blind and children’s hospital was her wish…made in Laura’s memory.
