The following is a personal thank you note from Laurence in his own words as he neared the end:
"I want to thank my 'pool buddies' at Ravensong Pool for the many years of good companionship. I am especially grateful to our wonderful friends and neighbours, Gayle and Al, and Faye, who were always there at our times of need. Also, our neighbour across the way, 'Sweet Sue', whose quiet little acts of kindness never went unnoticed or unappreciated. I wish to thank the home care nurses and the hospice volunteers for their wonderful care. And also, the Commando Veterans Association for their generous support.
But most of all, I thank my darling wife, Fern, whose constant love and devotion has always amazed me. Remember these words from 'our song',
And when one of us is gone
And one is left alone to carry on,
Then remembering will have to do
Our memories alone will get us through.....
I hope that in time, all your memories will be good ones."
There was no service by his own request, and any donations in his memory would be gratefully received by the Oceanside Hospice.
