BARON, Laurie McKinnon

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden

passing of Laurie McKinnon Baron on Wednesday,

December 16th after a short illness. Laurie passed

away peacefully in her sleep at St. Joseph’s Hospital

in Comox. Born in Calgary in 1944. Laurie is

predeceased by her father William Jones, and her son

John Gorski. She is survived by her mother Helen

Stone of Bowser (the Happy Stone Lady), daughter

Michelle (Ken) Gillingham and granddaughters Laurie

and Theresa of Edmonton, brother Don (Lois) Jones

of Victoria, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins,

and many close and cherished friends. Laurie lived

in the Bowser community for many years, and was

very involved with the Wildwood Church. She had

many friends in the Lighthouse Community, and had

also just recently joined the Qualicum Bay Lions

Club. The family wishes to thank the ICU staff at St.

Joseph’s Hospital in Comox for their compassionate

care, and to the wide circle of family and friends who

have offered so much support and love during this

diffi cult time.

A celebration of Laurie’s life will be held on Friday,

January 15th, 2010, at the Wildwood Church, 113

McColl Rd in Bowser at 1:30 pm with a reception to

follow.

In lieu of fl owers, donations can be made to the

charity of your choice.
