Leonard (Scratch)

Ralph Hrechka

Of Nanoose Bay, born August 19, 1940, passed away on February 28, 2017

Len grew up in Nanoose Bay after moving from Dauphin, Manitoba with his family. His forever love of cars and other vehicles steered him towards a career in heavy duty mechanics. He also loved hunting and fishing. Len had a passion for hot rods, particularly Fords, which he put on hold while raising his family and working tirelessly.

After retirement, he jumped back in and purchased a 1930 Ford Model “A” hot rod and spent the last 11 years actively attending many car shows, developing a strong connection to the “hot rod community”, and making many friends.

Predeceased by his wife of 35 years, Margaret Ann, Len will be sadly missed by his children, Janet (Ray), Lisa (Art), Joseph (Chelsii) and Rachel (Joel); grandchildren, Jessica, Arielle, Danielle, Maggie-Rae, Finn and Luka; great-grandchildren, Carter and Annabelle; sister, Joyce (Lorne); nephew, Derek; niece, Leanne, as well as many friends and extended family members.

Many thanks to Dr. Loughead and the staff of NRGH Palliative care for their loving care of our dad. Extra special thanks to dad’s buddies, Bill and Ian and families for your endless love and support.

Celebration of Life to be announced ….
