FOREVER YOUNG - Like many of you who arrived finally in the Qualicum area, Lois came from away. She was born in Montréal, Quebec and lived in the NDG area until moving to Rosemere, Quebec to start her own family with our dad, Bob Horrocks. In retirement she moved to Edmonton and finally Eaglecrest in 1984, where she saw the beach and the crown of mountains and knew she had found her final stopping point. She gardened dangerously, travelled on cruises with a wealthy cousin, danced and laughed with a group of women through the merciless routines of aqua-fit. She was a devoted grandmother to Jess and Tyler and Dana C and Bryn. She spoiled them with cookies and Variety Pack cereal. Her final years were spent in the wonderful company of her time travelling companions at Hawthorne Place where she listened to a thousand stories and told many of her own. She was a good listener. She was self deprecating and made you laugh. In her final years she was lovingly kept in the bosom of family by her daughter Kerry and son in law Randy who took her for picnics on the boardwalk so she could see the arrival of herring season and the brants or go to the Pharmasave sale for killer deals on vitamin C. The family thanks the many friends and caregivers who came into her life laterally including the soulful staff at Hawthorne and gentle care givers at Trillium Hospice. A private family service will be held. In lieu of flowers please send donations to the Trillium Hospice in Parksville.
