LEE, Lorna Margaret

1925 – 2006

Lorna, a very special lady, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 23, 2006 at Eagle Park Lodge in Qualicum Beach, BC. Left to mourn her passing is Husband George of 59 years - 4 Children; Catherine (Don) Redlack, Robert (Janice), Bill (Chiaki) and Janice (Manjeet) Nijjar, 9 Grandchildren and 1 Great Grandchild.

Lorna was born in Waldron, SK. on Feb. 7, 1925, the second daughter of Harry and Myrtle Johnson. She was predeceased by her eldest sister Delores and brother Raymond. She is survived by her younger brother Jack of Thunder Bay, ON.

Lorna was a loving wife and a devoted mother. She always considered herself very fortunate to have been born into a warm, loving family. Through example, her parents taught Lorna and her siblings kindness, compassion and generosity. Lorna brought these traits to her own home and we will always be thankful to her.

During the War Years, Lorna moved to Fort William, ON, where she was employed at an aircraft manufacturing plant. In 1945, Lorna met her future husband George and in 1946 they were married and made their home at Red Rock, ON where three of their 4 children were born. In 1956, the Lee family moved to Port Alberni, BC and have called Vancouver Island home ever since.

In 1969, Lorna and George bought waterfront property as a retreat and Lorna found true happiness. Planning improvements and construction projects gave her a real sense of accomplishment. After retirement the retreat became the full time home and Lorna was a happy girl.

Unfortunately, in 1996, Lorna was diagnosed as having Alzheimer’s disease, a turn of events that ended Lorna’s idyllic lifestyle. Lorna spent her last years at Eagle Park Care Facility, where she was very well treated by a kind compassionate staff.

A service will be held on Saturday, July 8 at 11:00 am at Yates Funeral Chapel, 1000 Allsbrooke Rd., Parksville, BC.
