Luella was born in Edmonton, Alberta

April 17, 1940 and passed away May 1, 2009 at

St. Joseph’s Hospital in Comox, B.C.

She was predeceased by her parents Gordon and Pauline Frederick.

Luella is survived by her son Daniel O’Neill of Mission, B.C.; daughter Colleen Tremblay (Randy) of Maple Ridge, B.C.; grandchildren Allen Carty (Nicole) Fredericton, NB, Steven and Robert Tremblay Courtenay, BC; great grandchildren Sadie, Braeden, Sicillie and Quentyn; brothers Darrel Frederick (Julie) of Goose Bay, Labrador and Duane Frederick (Debbie) of St. John’s, Newfoundland and nieces and nephews Debbie, Donald, Cathy and David.

Luella graduated from M.H.S.N in 1961 as a registered nurse, and then went on to nurse at Moncton Hospital.  She spent several years in Europe, returning to Canada to reside in N.B, then settling in BC.

Luella was Director of Resident Care at Arrowsmith Lodge from 1988 until retirement in 2000. Luella was an avid crafter and an animal lover. She was a compassionate, warm and caring, woman that loved her work with residents and staff at the old Arrowsmith Lodge. She cherished her dogs Sassy and Nikki. Luella was an amazing mother, sister and grandmother.

An Informal Celebration of Luella’s Life will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2009 from 1-3 pm, in her home at 638 Dogwood Road, Qualicum Beach.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Luella’s memory to the Cancer Society, or the S.P.C.A.
