Lydia passed peacefully on Monday, March 22nd at Trillium Lodge in Parksville, in her 95th year.

She was born on her grandfather’s farm near Battleford, SK, and while husband was overseas in WW II she worked as a Psychiatric nurse at the Mental Hospital in Battleford. After the war they moved to Prince Albert, had three children; lived there 21 years. With husband Stewart they were transferred to Kingston, ON, with the Penitentary Service and were there until his sudden death in 1980. Lydia moved from Kingston to Parksville in 1996 to be close to family.

She was predeceased by husband, Ernest Stewart Johnston, and grandson, Bradley Mark Johnston. Left to remember her are three children Lorraine (Clay) Thompson of Parksville, Stuart (Bernadette) Johnston of Toronto, and Sharon Johnston (Russell Webster) of Florida, four grandchildren; Kevin Thompson, Trevor (Karen) Thompson, Melissa (Paul) Galloway, and Ian Johnston, and six great grandchildren; Katelynn, Bradley, Emma, Eric, Lauren and Reid.

Her church and friends were always so important to her.

The family would like to thank Dr. Desai and the wonderful and compassionate staff of Trillium Lodge.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday April 10th in Parksville at the Arbutus Grove Church, 170 West Hirst.
