Peacefully went to be with the Lord on April 2, 2009, at the age of 79 years, following a battle with cancer. She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Ted Scott, whom she met at the age of 13 and married at 19, their five children, Janine (Dave), James (Debbie), Glenn (Sandy), Victoria (Will), and Marion, and grandchildren Nicki, Landon, Bryan, Vanessa, Christina, Tammy, Leanne, Shannon, Selena, Jess, Alissa and Michael, as well as seven great grandchildren.

Having graduated from Marvel Beauty School in 1947, Joyce’s love for people created a warm and homey atmosphere in her beauty salon of 15 years in Winnipeg, and she continued to style hair while sharing in the joys and sorrows of her clients, all her life.

Joyce spent her lifetime caring and giving to her family and many friends, and was always either baking for or serving at the Church and Seniors Centre, and lending a hand at the Parksville Museum, or the SOS. Since their move to Vancouver Island 35 years ago, Joyce and Ted have been active in the Square Dance movement, currently members of the Circle Eights.

A special thanks to the caregivers at the NRGH Palliative Care Unit.

A Celebration of Joyce’s life will be held at

Knox United Church on Sunday, April 19, 2009

at 2:00 pm with Rev. Foster Freed officiating.

If you wish, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
