Malcolm Norman (Mal) Patterson passed away peacefully in the Palliative Care Unit at NRGH on February 11, 2009

Beloved and loving husband, Dad and Granddad. Survived by Shirley (Leigh) his wife of 58 years, his children Susan (Jim) Hamilton, Norman (Julie) Patterson, E. Gayle (Mike) Eder, and his precious grandchildren Norman, Matthew, Jennifer, Emma, Thomas, and Christopher.

He is also survived by his brother Gary (Maureen), his sister Lorraine (late Roch) and their families. He also leaves many cousins, extended family and a host of wonderful friends.

Mal was a member of Coquitlam Curling Club, Vancouver Golf Club, Qualicum Beach Memorial Golf Club, and Kinsman Clubs of Victoria and Kelowna. Mal retired after a long and prosperous career in the BC Grocery industry. He started out with sales in Kraft Foods and retired in 1987 as Owner and President of Western Mandate Ltd., in Burnaby British Columbia. He and Shirley moved to Qualicum Beach in 1988 and enjoyed a most happy retirement and were able to spend many winter month in Palm Desert.

A Memorial Service will be held at Saint Mark’s Anglican Church on Saturday February 28, 2009 at 1:00pm.

In lieu of flowers donations to a charity of your choice or Alzheimer’s Society of British Columbia for research or Wheels for Wellness would be appreciated.
