It is with profound sadness that we announce the death of

PEPIN, Marcel Joseph Alfred

February 1, 1940 - August 15, 2008

He is survived by his loving wife Maureen, a son Darrell (Susan Landry), Ashley, Nicole Pepin, a daughter Sherri (Ian), Owain, Erica Ralston.

Marcel was born in Edmonton, Alberta. He was the original “Free Spirit” and a rebel from a young age. He left home early in life, travelled and worked at a variety of jobs. Later on, he worked for many years as a longshoreman on Vancouver Island in the Chemainus-Ladysmith area. For the last 20 years of his working career, he was foreman at the Port of Vancouver and Delta Port.

He loved his work and he was passionate about golf. He travelled far and wide to play his favourite sport.

He had a happy easy-going personality and made many friends.

He reluctantly retired in 2005 and gladly moved to Vancouver Island to be closer to his family.

He became a member of the Qualicum Beach Memorial Golf Club and almost every day he would arrive at the clubhouse at dawn, eager to get a game going with his early-bird friends.

Marcel will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed as a friendly, kind, generous and gentle soul who died before his time.

His ashes will be put to rest in St. Albert, Alberta Cemetery with his mother and grandparents.

Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society in his memory.

A part of our hearts he took with him.

But his love he left us to keep.

So we will never really be parted.

That bond between us is too deep.
