Born December 12, 1909 at Deleau, Manitoba Passed away at Arrowsmith Lodge, Parksville, BC on May 4, 2002Marie spent her early years as a farm wife at Redvers, Saskatchewan. Her husband Edmond died in an accident in 1956. In 1959 Marie and George Thurber moved to Tilley, Alberta where they operated a garage and restaurant. In 1961 they sold there and moved to Brooks, Alberta where they owned a grocery store with a meat market. Their next successful venture was operating the Overlander Motel at Chase, BC. In 1972 they retired at Parksville, BC. This gave Marie time to do her hobbies of growing flowers, crocheting, cooking, and volunteering many years at the S.O.S. Marie spent 16 years in TOPS and was rewarded with many very dear friends whom she enjoyed going out with each month. Marie never had any children of her own but raised several nieces and nephews. She was a wonderful step-Mom to Rod and Jenny Thurber and a dear Great Aunt to Darrell Chaboyer of Brandon, Manitoba and Ken Chaboyer of Parksville.
Cremation and Marie’s ashes will be placed at Bellegarde, Saskatchewan
A very special thank you to all the Staff at Arrowsmith Lodge for their love and kindness to Marie for the last seven years.
