Martha was born in Richdale, AB and spent most of her adult life on Vancouver Island. Predeceased by her husband Milton, brothers; Henry, Emmanuel and Ben, sisters; Magdelena, Elsie, Lydia and Emily, she is survived by her sister Elizabeth Heck, Salmon Arm, BC and brother Gus Adolph, Kelowna, BC. She will be sadly missed by her nephew Jim Wilks, Comox, BC and niece Lee Kuefler, Qualicum Beach, BC. Martha spent her last years raising goats, herbs and fruit on her small farm in Qualicum Bay. The Bowser Community has lost one of its truly colourful characters. Martha was well known in the mid-island area for her passionate interest and activism in protecting the environment. Before it became fashionable she was well known for promoting a healthy lifestyle through good nutrition and hard work. The family thanks the staff of the Eagle Park Health Care Facility, Qualicum Beach, for their care during Martha’s final months.
A Graveside Service will be held on Monday, June 28, 2010 @ 11:00am at the Qualicum Beach Cemetery (Jones St) with Reverend Colin Meikle officiating.
