A gentle and gracious soul passed away suddenly but peacefully at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital on March 21, 2009 at the age of 81 years.
Patrick was born in Bulawayo, Rhodesia, the son of Basil and Kathleen, in 1927. He came to Canada in 1952, first to Toronto before moving to Vancouver in 1963.
Predeceased by wives Pamela (1981) and Margaret (2008), and by daughter Tracy (1998), Patrick will be lovingly remembered by sons Gary (Lois) and Paul (Kathy), grandchildren Michael, Jennifer, Alexandra, Jeremy, Jordan, Sarah and great grandchildren Desirae & Makayla. He is also survived by stepsons Dana and Duncan (Gail), and two step-grandchildren.
Known throughout the Vancouver business community, Patrick was a well-respected business reporter with the Province newspaper for many years, retiring in 1992. For the last 17 years he enjoyed a busy retirement in Nanoose Bay where he made many good friends.
A celebration of Patrick’s life will be held at St. Edmund’s Church in Parksville at 1:00 pm on Sunday, March 29.
