God gently and quietly embraced Queenie at home on February 8, 2006, and welcomed her to his home.
Queenie’s kindness, goodness and humour touched many lives. She leaves behind to cherish and remember her, daughter Helen; sister, Joy Corker and family in Australia; brother Jack Corker and wife Gwen; nephew Len Corker and wife Tracey, all of Yorkshire, England. As well as past and resent staff of the Qualicum Heritage (College) Inn. She made an impact on many entering the workforce, as well as many guests. With dozens of friends across the world, she will be remembered. Having an indomitable spirit and an abiding faith in God's plan, she achieved both an adventurous and simple life.
Born in Barnsley, England, she joined the W.A.A.F. during the war. She first arrived in Canada on a Greek freighter in a convoy as a war bride. Residing in Qualicum Beach since 1975, Queenie was employed at the George Inn for 9 years and for 22 at the Qualicum Heritage (College) Inn.
A graveside service was held February 15, 2006, at 2:30 pm at the Qualicum Beach Cemetery, followed by a reception at the Qualicum Heritage Inn.
