Richard Graham Martin

July 3, 1932 - September 9, 2017

It is with profound sadness that we announce that Rick passed away peacefully in his sleep at Trillium Lodge Hospice in Parksville BC.

Rick was predeceased by his parents, George and Laura Belle Martin and in 1975 by his first wife and mother of his children, Mildred Caroline Martin (Samuelson).

Rick was born in Winnipeg, Man. on July 3, 1932, was raised and attended school in Kenora, Ontario.

Rick spent most of his working years at the Kenora paper mill, and was also a choir member at St. Albans Cathedral for many years. He was a wonderful, kind, caring man, always ready to help anyone who needed it and was a great friend to all who knew him.

He was a devoted loving husband, a great stepdad, dad and grandpa.

Rick will be lovingly remembered and missed immensely by Pat, his loving wife of 36 years; her children Dan Brown (Cheryl) and granddaughter Cheyenne of Kenora, Ont., Steve Brown of Kamloops BC, and Deanna Lynch (Jim) and grandson Aidan Johnson of Qualicum Beach, BC.

Also left to mourn Rick's passing are his and Mildred's children Barbara Martin, and granddaughter Ashley of Vancouver; Dennis Martin (Fran) of North Bay, ON and granddaughters Alexandra, Brittany and Janelle; Nancy Rose (Greg) of Kenora, ON., grandson Sam and granddaughters Justine and Hannah; and Gladys McBeath (David) of White Rock, BC.

We appreciate the love and support we received from all our friends during this difficult time.

We want to thank the caring palliative home care nurses and Doctors Hunter and van der Weyde. Also, a huge thank you to the amazing nursing staff at Trillium Lodge Hospice, who were so wonderful, caring and supportive in the tender respectful care Rick and our family received.

A private Celebration of Life will be held on October 19th for family and close friends. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to Oceanside Hospice Society, 210 Crescent Road W, Qualicum Beach, BC V9K 1J9. www.oceansidehospice.com
