Richard William FARMER

October 22, 2009

Dick died at home, October 22, 2009

after a four year illness.

Until recently he got out on his scooter every day and especially to the golf course to collect lost balls and then give them to his golfing friends.

Dick was born in Winnipeg, Man. Dec. 10, 1927. When he was four he had sense enough to bring his parents to the West Coast. As a young man he played rugby in high school and UBC football. Later it was raquetball and tennis. He always loved the ocean and river fishing.

Dick took engineering at UBC, but then decided he would rather be a chartered accountant. He worked for a CPA firm in Seattle and then for Delta Hotels in Vancouver. He also found time to sing in the Vancouver Welsh Choir.

After moving to the island, Dick taught accounting at Malaspina University, and later at the Professional Development Institute of Tourism.

He is survived by his wife Bertie, and daughters Eileen, Andrea and Kathleen and son-in-law Greg. Also by five grandchildren Lauren, Christopher, Jennifer, Marykate and Brianna and by three great-granchildren.
