Robert (Bob) James Ritchie, born September 20, 1930 passed away peacefully at the Royal Inland Hospital Kamloops after a brief illness on August 31, 2010. Bob was born and raised in Victoria BC. He had along and successful career with BC Hydro, he eventually retired to Qualicum Beach BC with his wife Lorna. They resided in Qualicum amongst a group of wonderful, caring friends. Upon his wife Lorna’s passing in 2007 he stayed an additional two years to be near his friends. He then moved to Salmon Arm, BC to be with his family. Bob was always an active and interesting participant in current affairs having written many letters to newspaper columnists, radio hosts, university professors and politicians in an effort to bring issues of importance to the publics attention. Bob was also a person who would take the time to befriend people, to make their day a better day and to put a smile on their faces. Bob is predeceased by his wife Lorna (Colbert), daughter Carolyn, Brother Gordon his father Robert Lorne and mother Alice. Bob is survived by and greatly missed by his son Robert Arthur (Lynn); grand children Lauren and Kara of Salmon Arm, Teresa (James) of Kelowna, Dale of Victoria, Dylan of Revelstoke David and Stefanie of Fort Qu’Appelle Sask; Great grand daughters Courtney and Michelle of Revelstoke, Brother Kenneth (Debbie) of Salmon Arm, Sister Lorna Mae of Salmon Arm, Sister-in-law Pearl of Richmond, Nephews; Gordon, John and Jeff, Nieces; Donna and Nicole. Our deepest gratitude to the nurses of the ICU at the Royal Columbia Hospital Kamloops, for their compassion and caring. A celebration of Bob’s life will be held on November 13, 2010 from the community Hall, Memorial Drive, Qualicum Beach, BC at 2:30 pm. Online condolences may be sent through Bob’s obituary at
