HETHERINGTON, Ronald Malcolm
Born July 17th,1925,
died June 15th, 2006.
With gratitude for a life well lived, his beloved wife Marcia and his cherished children Clare, Chris, Shelley, Sean, Monica, Pamela, and John, and their families, sorrowfully announce the death of their husband, father and friend, Ron Hetherington.
All Ron’s life the sea spoke to his sailor’s soul. From his sailboat Salese to the beach on Lasqueti, from living in West Vancouver to retirement in Qualicum Beach, the sea was never far away. Ron was a creative and clever businessman, a competitive bridge player, a talented artist, and a persevering (oops--expert) golfer.
Growing up in Vancouver the youngest of Reverend Albert and Ethel Hetherington’s six sons, Ron earned his RCAF “wings” before graduating from UBC with a degree in Commerce. He went on to become President of Hetherington Lumber and later founded Helco Forest Products.
Ron was truly one of a kind. His humour, his kindness, and his sensitivity to others were a gift to all who loved him. He made us feel special in his presence. His warm love made him truly loved in return. Though forever in our hearts, his smile, his hug, and his ‘‘I love you’’ will be deeply and resoundingly missed.
A Celebration of Life was held on Tuesday, June 20th, at Yates Funeral Home.
