Rosie Morton (nee Rosey Polichuk)

October. 12, 1921 - August 27, 2017

It is with much sadness the family advises that Rosie passed away at The Gardens in Qualicum Beach, 46 days shy of her 96th birthday.  Mom was born in Ardley Alberta.

Predeceased by her parents John and Mary Polichuk, her first husband Walter John Stephens, second husband Harold Morton, brothers Louie, Mike, Johnny, Stanley, and Matt, sisters Stella, and Olga and also by beloved son in law Jim Burns.

Lovingly remembered by daughters Marie (Gary), Glenis, Jean (Rory), sons Bill (Sharon), Earl (Ingrid) and by sisters Jessie and Millie, 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren plus numerous nieces and nephews all of whom she loved very much.

Mom and Dad moved to Nanaimo in 1956 along with two month old Marie. By the year 1968 the family of 7 had moved to Nanoose and then to Parksville in 1980. Mom was a homemaker most of her life but shared memories of her job cleaning train engines. Her memories also included her travel adventures across Canada, her Alaskan cruise and Reno trip.

Rosie enjoyed her camp outings and looked forward to walking in the snow. Cheering for her children/grandchildren at lacrosse, fastball, hockey games or BMX racing delighted Mom. Grandchildren and great grandchildren brought many cheery times for Mom.

Mom was a 34 yr. member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 49 Ladies Auxiliary and a member of the Dist. 69 Hospital Auxiliary.

At family gatherings Mom always inquired about the ones who couldn't attend and knew, right to her end, who was visiting.

Mom, Grandma, Great Grandma will be remembered for her sense of humour, "dukes up",€ smile and chuckle.

Loads of gratitude for the care and support shown by the staff on the 3rd floor at The Gardens and previous to that the staff at Cokely Manor.

Mom looked forward to fun times with special friends Marge and Marie.

Respecting Mom's wishes no service or tea will be held. A private family gathering will be held at a later date.
