RENNIE, William (Bill) Ibbotson
It is with sorrow in our hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Bill Rennie at the age of 85.
Born in Motherwell, Scotland to Charlotte and Alex Rennie, Bill grew up with older siblings Robert and Lottie. Bill served in WW2 aboard minesweeping boats in the Royal Navy, married Margaret (Peggy) McCully during shore leave in 1943 and had one son, Alex.
Bill and Peggy emigrated to Parksville in 1967 and established Rennie’s Ideal Bakery. Bill had a successful career in commercial baking and after retirement, his passion in life was Tai Chi. Bill enjoyed many years of Tai Chi and was instrumental in the startup of Oceanside Tai Chi.
Bill leaves behind his wife Margaret (Peggy); son Alex (Jeanette); brother Robert (Joan); grandsons Alex (Lisa) and Iain; and great-grandchildren Amanda, Claire, Christopher and Brianne.
Celebration of Life will be held at Yates Funeral Home?Tuesday, August 12, at 2:00 p.m.?In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, a cause that was important to Bill, would be greatly accepted. A Thank You to Dr. S. Desai.
