April 17, 1932 – Sept.5, 2010

Bill passed away peacefully at Arrowsmith Lodge surrounded by his family. He will be remembered with love by his wife of 39 years Rose Marie, daughter Carolyn (David), son Daniel (Rosalyn) and granddaughter Amanda. Predeceased by his brothers Jack and Patrick, Bill also leaves one brother Louis (Patricia) and sisters Marie Therese (Clem) and Anne, as well as many dear relatives and friends.

Bill was born in Edmonton, AB, the youngest child of Anne and William Hague. With studies in theology and counselling psychology, he served as a Redemptorist priest for 14 years teaching and counselling at Holy Redeemer College in Edmonton. He continued as a Professor in the Faculty of Education at the University of Alberta, where he taught moral education and counselling psychology. Writings include “Evolving Spirituality” (1995).

Bill served the greater community in leading many retreats and workshops locally and internationally and was honoured with awards for his dedication.

An avid high country hiker and traveller, Bill loved to paint the majestic Rockies. After retirement, the lure of the Pacific drew Bill and Rose Marie to Qualicum Beach, where they have lived for eight years.

Bill’s gentle warmth, compassion and humour endeared him to many. The family are deeply grateful to the caring staff at Nanaimo Hospital and Arrowsmith Lodge.

Funeral service is Monday, Sept 13th, 2010 at 10:30 am, at Ascension Catholic Church (887 Wembley Rd., Parksville, BC).
