William Leask Gunn

GUNN, William Leask

Born in Govan, Scotland on July 21, 1921, Bill passed peacefully on November 22, 2005 after a long battle with Lewy Bodies, a Parkinson’s related condition.

His brothers James and Walter and sister Isobel predeceased Bill. Bill will be sadly missed by his wife of 54 years, Sue and their daughters

Terri (Roy) and Patricia (Roy), son Gordon (Denise), grandsons Gregory, Michael and Garrick, sister Midge, nieces and nephew and their families.


Raised in Penticton, BC, Bill joined the Royal Westminster Regiment in 1939 and served until the conclusion of WWII. A D-Day Dodger,

Bill served both in the Italian Campaign and the liberation of Holland. Returning to Canada, Bill became a pipefitter, working in pulp mills in Prince Rupert, Woodfibre and finally Crofton. After retirement Bill and Sue moved to Qualicum Beach where Bill had plenty of time to pursue his passion for golf.


The family would like to thank the staff of Arranglen Gardens for the loving care Bill received while a resident there.


A memorial service will be held at St. Stephen’s United Church, 150 Village Way, Qualicum Beach, on Wednesday, November�30th at 1:00 pm.


In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Parkinson Centre, 813 Darwin Avenue, Victoria, V8X 2X7.
