August 13, 1937 to January 28, 2017
Yvonne was born in Cantebury, England, and immigrated to Canada in the mid-1960’s with her husband, Bryan Ostrom and settled in Richmond, B.C. They then moved to Langley then Surrey and finally to Parksville, BC in January 1995, after Yvonne retired from her career with the Royal Bank in May of 1994. Yvonne passed away peacefully at age 79.
Yvonne is predeceased by her husband Melvin Bryan Ostrom September 4, 2014 and sisters Daphne, Joan and brother Vernon in England. Survived by brother Ron and sister Irene, both of England, and sister Gwen of Australia, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Yvonne and Bryan loved to travel the world. Some highlights included trips back to England and further afrield to Egypt, Australia and South America. They kept in touch, too, over the years with their friends on the Mainland.
At home here in Parksville, Yvonne and Bryan were both animal lovers and gave many deserving pets a good home.
Upon retirement in Parksville, Yvonne enjoyed volunteering for the Salvation Army and local theatre. She also participated in fitness programs at the Parksville Seniors Centre; she was a dancer from childhood in England and especially enjoyed ballroom dancing.
She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
