Attack on Iran imminent

Ostensibly, a pre-emptive military operation to hit Iran was to coincide with the September 6th Israeli attack on Syria. With the attack on what is/was to be a supposed Axis-of-Evil (Syrian-Iranian-North Korean) nuclear installation, the Iranian connection was to give cover to the U.S. for a massive attack on Iran.

But the mission was aborted as the nuclear-tipped advanced cruise missiles were not delivered to the Middle East war theatre.

News of the B-52 that flew six nuclear-armed cruise missiles from Minot Air Force Base in North Dakota to Barksdale Air Force Base in Louisiana was leaked to Military Times by anonymous Air Force personnel.

With news leaked that this weaponry was delivered to Barksdale, it was explained away as an apparent command and control breakdown, i.e. cruise missiles designated for retirement were being sent to Barksdale for storage; by mistake the warheads were not removed. Yet, Barksdale is a jumping-off point for Middle East operations.

This is a Bent Spear incident (second in severity to Broken Arrow) and the Air Force and the Department of Defense are preparing separate investigations. If this was an innocent mistake, it is of extraordinary proportion. And unprecedented is the reporting of the movement of U.S. nuclear arms.

However, it reasonably appears that these missiles were not delivered as the result of a revolt and push-back by various elements within the Air Force and intelligence agencies against a U.S. attack on Iran using nuclear and conventional weapons.

Many see the current Iraq War as having been unnecessary, entered into under false pretenses, and horribly mismanaged by the civilian authorities.

They view the rhetoric of Iran’s assumed nuclear weapons program as more of the same coming from an arrogant, out-of-control administration.

At the same time, more than 20 retired U.S. generals have broken with tradition and have publicly spoken out criticizing the commander-in-chief and top civilian leaders who led the U.S. into what these generals too believe, is a false war.

While all these actions are encouraging, solace remains aloof as the U.S. administration continues to violently shake the geo-political tightrope.
