From Quality Foods comes some exciting news for boating fans — and for fans of the classic 1960s TV show Gilligan’s Island.

Girl-next-door, Mary Ann Summers, is taking a two- hour tour of Qualicum Foods on Saturday, May 25.

Dawn Wells, who played Mary Ann in the 1960s classic, will be reunited with another castaway cast member, the SS Minnow, which now plays the role of a charity fundraiser for Quality Foods.

The refurbished SS Minnow tourist attraction is a hit at many auction-style events where the successful bidder books a “three-hour tour” of local waters, mimicking lines from the famous Gilligan’s Island theme song.

Wells will be in Qualicum Beach as part of the store’s annual customer appreciation day, to meet customers during a tropically themed appy hour special.

For more on the SS Minnow contact Dianna Rivard at Quality Foods, 250-248-4004 or

The visit runs from 4 p.m.  to 6 p.m. at Qualicum Foods, 705 Memorial Ave., Qualicum Beach, Saturday, May 25.
