Revealing cyclists photos in The NEWS
What revealing photographs of cyclists in the June 3 edition of The NEWS.
Was the injured cyclist on page 3 wearing a helmet, and who hit whom — the truck or bike? I hope she’s okay.
As for the photo regarding Bike To Work Week on page 5, I cannot believe the foreground cyclists were allowed to participate without wearing helmets.
The man using his hand-held device could actually receive three fines; distracted riding, operating a bicycle with one hand when not signaling and of course, no helmet. Total, $327.
Of course, education and enforcement are paramount. Under the Motor Vehicle Act, a bicycle is considered a vehicle subject to the ‘rules of the road’, other than children being able to ride on sidewalks.
Bells are mandatory equipment, the lack of which could result in yet another fine. Pedestrians and other cyclists appreciate their use.
Ah, summer cycling in Oceanside; fun, practicality and responsibility.
