Legion thanks

As a member of the Royal Canadian Legion for more than 40 years, I wish to thank editor John Harding for his recent editorial entitled ‘Kicking seniors.’

The Legion not only helps seniors and veterans, they work to improve the quality of life for all Canadians and youth. Most non-profit organizations who help the local communities are excluded from paying property taxes.

At this time, the Legion is losing some memberships due to aging veterans, therefore loss of dues. I certainly hope the mayor and councillors re-consider this notion of taxing any non-profit organizations, as Harding suggested in his editorial.
