Nice from Newfoundland

In the space of two days, a newcomer to the area (a dear friend and a fellow Newfoundlander) has had two slams about being just that — a Newfoundlander.
I think it’s time people realized we are not (and never really were) stupid numbskulls.
Times have changed: people and businesses who make derogatory cracks about one being a Newfie, especially and particularly to our faces, are very much the ones being numbskulls.
Look around you folks, we, Newfoundlanders, are the hardest working, most loyal and honest crowd of people you will meet.
You want us in your volunteer group, you want us working for you, you want us as friends.
A little respect please. Lord knows we’ve earned it.
