Smart queries

In his recent letter to the editor, BC Hydro’s Gary Murphy states that smart meters are safe and are required.

He is also sad about the misinformation presented. Well, so am I.

Why did he not state what misinformation he was talking about?

Why are there hundreds of experts, scientists and doctors all willing to go into a public domain and post their information and their facts and names, but BC Hydro only mentions independent companies used to test a cheap Chinese plastic meter that most older house wiring is not designed to handle.

Why does he say the World Health Organization (WHO) found the meters safe when as of 2012 WHO classed EMF radiation from cell phones and smart meters as a Class 2b carcinogen?

Why can a person find thousands of fact on the dangers of these smart meters when the only published data regarding how good they are comes from BC Hydro?

Why, if they are not to be classed as a surveillance device, is there a zig-bee chip, along with a second transmitter incorporated into each presently installed smart meter?

Why are all major appliances being developed already made to allow for direct communication with the zig-bee transmitter?

Why, if China is suspected of cyber security breaches that allow them to possibly control hydro, pipelines and gas grids, does BC Hydro insist that they are secure when any noted security expert has already stated time and again that even the governments themselves are not able to guarantee cyber security?

And why was the B.C. Utilities Commission bypassed to allow smart meters without public input before the government spent $1 billion of our money on a non-CSA approved cheap metering device that is overpriced?
