Re: “Safety is the key,” a letter to the editor in The NEWS by Gary Murphy, chief project officer, Smart Metering and Infrastructure, with BC Hydro.
We have been assured, ad nauseum, that BC Hydro will “address” customer’s “questions” and “concerns” before installing smart meters. As he is the CPO, surely it would be logical to assume Murphy’s is a typical response.
Despite an extremely long letter, Murphy does not reference any of the scientific, legal and social data presented by Julian Fell, to the RDN.
Murphy has no degree in health or other related sciences, unlike Julian Fell, whose information he summarily castigates as “incorrect and misleading.”
By glaring omission, Murphy shows he is unable to sustain logical argument in the face of other information, but resorts to regurgitating the cherry-picked pablum he’s been fed from above to drown out opposition.
When it comes to due diligence for our, and our children’s safety, Murphy’s recalcitrant, cavalier rejection, rather than a concerned, measured investigation and analysis of the message and the substantial credentials of the messenger, is solid indication that BC Hydro’s claims that they take safety seriously, and that they will address customers’ concerns, are simply not true.
