Letters to the Editor

Air cadet thanks

The 893 Beaufort Squadron Air Cadets and Parent Sponsoring Committee would like to send a big Thank You to the Qualicum Beach Rotary and Mike Haas, and The Ladies Auxiliary for their much appreciated financial donations to the 893 Squadron cadets for us to build a second bathroom at the Air Cadet Hangar training facility at the QB airport.

This project was on hold due to lack of funds and having only one bathroom during special events was rather tricky! Now with these very generous donations, the project is progressing very nicely and will soon be completed. The air cadets would also like to acknowledge and thank Rob and Donna Hais for giving their time to design and build the bathroom for the cadets.

893 Squadron will welcome any new applicants. Cadets is a world-wide recognized leadership program for any youth of 12-18 years of age interested in personal growth and development, aircraft and flying, along with lots of other exiting activities and skills training such as: simulator flying, first aid, model building, marksmanship, biathlon, gliding, power aircraft flying, survival training, public speaking, summer camps and ground school.

The 893 Squadron cadets will begin the 2014 Jan-June training program with the monthly CO’s parade at the hanger on Jan. 7 at 6:30 p.m. Everyone is invited to stop by and take a look and have a tour of our facility and programs. Or parents can call the hangar message line for more information at 778-410-0221 and an officer will be in contact them with more information.
