Take down signs

Sign, sign, everywhere a sign.

I live on Wembley Road where apparently anyone with a sandwich board or a hammer and nail can put up a sign.

Some have gone as far as to chain their signs to a public utility pole. On Saturday, I counted no less than 12 sandwich boards all pertaining to the same development.

I believe there are bylaws to cover this problem, but the consensus seems to be: ‘why take them down, they’ll only come back’. Yes that’s true, if you only remove them once a year.

If these signs come down as fast as they go up the problem will diminish substantially. I’m sure the local road-maintenance contractor drives down this road at least once a day. It would take mere minutes to remove violating signs.

Please demand enforcement of local bylaws.
