Letters to the Editor

Save the train

I would like to say that the E&N train that used to travel through our communities to Courtenay and Victoria was a wonderful mode of transportation.

I looked forward to every trip I took on this train, and I would like to urge our politicians to follow through in getting it going again.

As I am a senior, a trail is not good for me, but a train will get me places that I otherwise might not be able to go. As we seniors get older, we are no longer allowed to drive, but we can get on a train.

Because our communities have a large percentage of seniors, I would hope that our politicians would want to help them.

Also, did we not give up much land and minerals on either side of our train tracks in order to have our train in perpetuity?

Please urge your politicians to work with VIA rail to restore train service to our area.
