Letters to the Editor

Silent majority

I have just read the May 1 letters to the editor and find that the frequent use of name calling and put downs are disturbing. Sometimes, the comments are laughable.

For example, at the end of her recently-published letter to the editor, Lois Eaton states: “Remember that council is formed of the elected representatives of the people.”

Yes indeed, not by the impassioned presentations of a handful of participants who attend council meetings. Incidentally, they certainly are not the only intelligent and coherent citizens of our town.

There is what is called a silent majority. It might well be they are counting on the three councillors you call out to continue to do the job they were elected to do. I know I do.
