Tough, but correct school decision

The elected School Board of District 69, after a lengthy public process, came to a well reasoned and financially responsible decision to close four schools. Congratulations.

As a retired school administrator, I know that leadership decisions such as these are seldom easy or popular.

The next several months will be challenging as new organizations gradually take hold, but I truly believe the district is at the threshold to do many wonderful things for students from K to 12.

Perhaps, with the infusion of new funds (from potential land sales), the district may now be able to implement significant improvements to existing buildings and programs. This would lead to higher levels of student achievement... which is always our primary goal.
