Sky not falling
Re: “The sky is falling” global warming/climate change alarmists shrieking from the roof tops (letters by Stan Gauthier and W.C. Waterhouse in recent editions of The NEWS).
In the meantime, we have had flat line global temperatures going on 18 years now, while the CO2 levels have continued to increase. This information is acknowledged somewhat reluctantly and sheepishly by the IPCC. Their models have utterly failed to predict what has actually happened in real life on this planet.
Of course these alarmists in their desperation to find a cause are now trying to blame extreme weather events on climate change. They have continually mixed CO2 carbon with pollution carbon and weather with climate change. Nor, in their fuzzy unscientific thinking, have they ever considered the fact that in many places in the world global warming, if it ever happens, and increasing in CO2 would be beneficial.
And surprise, we have had one of the best starts to the growing season ever seen here for many years with plenty of water and lots of CO2 which makes things grow so well.
The world has endured climate change, higher temperatures, and higher CO2 levels many times in the past sometimes with disastrous results but often with huge benefits. These are natural changes in global conditions and the anthropogenic component is negligible.
This imminent “enviro desolation” envisaged by the alarmists is not going to happen. We are more likely to be destroyed by an errant meteorite or a massive volcanic eruption than anything to do with climate change or global warming or CO2 levels.
There are far more important things to worry about on this planet. Can you imagine how many hungry people could have been fed and given clean water if they had the benefit of the billions of dollars wasted in this futile chase of a phantom problem.
