Save the benches

I was very disappointed to read the article about the memorial benches in Qualicum Beach. We have a memorial bench in Parksville Community Park. I’m not looking forward to the city sending us a bill for $1,800. My mother died in 1993. I don’t remember how much we paid for the privilege of having a bench installed and putting a plaque on it.

I would suggest that this would be a great job for a service club in the community, to keep these benches in good condition. My husband and I were members of the Kinsmen and Kinettes many years ago, and these were the kind of projects we did in those days and had fun doing them.
