Food trucks in Community Park!?
Food trucks in Parksville’s Community Park? Are you kidding me?
Most of the one’s I’ve seen need to spiff up their appearance.
I believe that keeping the concession stand and fixing it up definitely would be a longer and much more attractive option. I’ve lived in other places and I will cite one in particular in Vancouver which has a nice bank of washrooms, change rooms and a concession stand that sells the best gourmet hamburgers and hot dogs and a few items for those that require a “better diet.”
A great, scooped ice cream cone wouldn’t hurt either. Maybe some poutine, milkshakes and other great items — that could keep the concession stand open in Community Park all year long and would be appreciated, rather than a flank of food trucks.
What is wrong with having a great concession stand where you line up for, smell the goodies cooking, tease each other in the line-up, wet bathing suits and happy smiles on kids faces?
You will lose the ambiance of individual trucks and no sense of community. Please re-consider. Why don’t you ask the people who live here, what they think, for once, rather than have Mayor Chris Burger and Coun. Carrie Powell-Davidson (who has made herself the so-called food spokesperson) decide what we need?
Can’t we just be proud of having this spectacular beach and festivals and hang onto a concession stand that everyone that visits or lives here can talk about long after they have gone, and pass it on to others wishing to visit us? I can see a roof over a patio for sitting under the rain on those days looking over the ocean and drinking a coffee, hot chocolate. Try that out of a food truck.
