Two more world titles for racer Stilwell

From New Zealand comes word that less than 10 hours after demolishing the field to win the Women’s 100m T52 final in Christchurch, New Zealand at the 2011 IPC Athletics World Championships, Nanoose Bay wheelchair racer Michelle Stilwell was at it again, smashing her previous world record of 39.51 with a run of 37.12 to win the 200m T52 final on Sunday.

Next up is the 400m on Wednesday evening at 6:30 pm (Christchurch time).

“I am fortunate to be a recipient of the Canadian Athletes Now Fund which allowed me to train in Australia for the weeks leading up to these games. I feel I am physically and mentally prepared for these events thanks to the CAN Fund,” Mikey said Monday via e-mail, adding her and her coach Peter “have put together a plan that will see me through to the end of these games accomplishing our goal.

“We are half way there and I am feeling confident going forward.”
