Duncan crew takes annual QB carpet bowling event

QUALICUM BEACH — The 18th annual Invitational Carpet Bowling Tournament, sponsored by Qualicum Beach Pharmasave’s co-owners Sandy Conn and John Beever, was held on Tuesday, February 8, 2011 at the Qualicum Beach Civic Centre, when a local team from the Bradley Centre took second place to a visiting team from Duncan, who won all five of their games.

The Parksville trio of Judy Cottle, Mary Taylor and Keith Gibson, along with two teams from Nanaimo, were tied for second place, with four wins and one loss but claimed the prize, having scored the most points.

The host club, Qualicum Beach Seniors Carpet Bowlers Club, meets for bowling at the Qualicum Beach Civic Centre on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 12:45 p.m. and welcomes any visitors who would like to try out the game.

No experience is necessary and free instruction is always available.
