Parksville lawn bowling club wins four

The Powell River Lawn Bowling club celebrated their 90th anniversary this week with an Open tournament. Our local Parksville Club participated.

August 10 and 11 of this year Parksville Lawn Bowling Club sent 11 teams of triples to participate in Powell River’s 90th birthday tournament.

The competition was strong with entries from Qualicum Beach, Nanaimo, Port Alberni, Courtenay and of course Powell River. At the end of the day the Parksville contingent came home with four prizes.

First place went to the team of Anne and Jeff Holland with Joe Stemler all of Parksville. Second spot was held down by a combination team of Rick Quebell of Nanaimo and Jim Muir and Vicki Banks of the Parksville Club.

Third place was taken by Parksville’s Jan and Stu MacNaughton with Diane Proctor. Another team from our Parksville Club made up of Rick Mix, Lucille Pickard and Alan Brunskill took seventh place.
