Whalers hoops team comes close

PARKSVILLE -Dustin Rodriguez scored 18 points as the Ballenas Whalers senior boys basketball team fell to the G.P. Vanier Towhees of Courtenay, 59-51, Tuesday night.

Dillon Robson scored 21 and Mark McGinnis added 23 for the Towhees in the league game win.

Sean Rae added 15 for the Whalers.

Balenas is ranked eighth in the top 10 AAA boys teams on Vancouver Island. Vanier is ranked sixth.
