Western weekend coming up

COOMBS — Listen up cowpokes, a reminder the third annual Western Weekend is coming up.

Sponsored by Buckerfields Country Stores and a popular peek into the world where horse and riders work together, western weekend takes over the Coombs Rodeo Grounds April 21-22 and will feature Ranch Sorting and Team Penning competitions, along with a Ranch Horse Obstacle Course thrown in for kicks.

“Come and see what working horses and riders can do,” said Sue Sheppard. “Whether you are a rider or a spectator you are guaranteed to have a blast.”

Anyone interested in entering the event or for more information contact Hugh or Tammy at htphye@telus.net.

There will be a BBQ on site, and those that turn out “are in for a treat to see great horsemanship and what the working horse and rider call a day’s work on the Ranch.

“This event only happens once a year and we all look forward to it,” said Sue, adding those that don’t want the fun to end can join them at the Country Dance Saturday night.
